As a designer who made everything from dresses to jackets to headpieces while at Parsons, Hong Kong raised Gloria Yu always used to wear what she made out. Somehow, her headpieces seem to be most memorable (she realized that when someone she just met at a party once said ‘Oh you’re the headpiece girl!’) and even before graduating, she would make pieces for friends and family around the world. Upon graduating, she was offered the opportunity to create a range of headdresses for Lane Crawford’s winter campaign, as well as to launch her headband line in their stores. Thus, Yunotme was born.

 

Yunotme is a line of headbands and headdresses that are statement pieces for the cosmopolitan woman. They celebrate feminine charm and empowerment – both in the concept of the designs and the making of the pieces. Gloria’s designs are often inspired by the strength and voice of female heroines in literature and the society, while the production of the pieces on the other hand, is made possible by a team of mostly female craftswomen in her home town of Hong Kong, who hand make each piece with luxurious materials from scratch – female heroines in their own right.

 

Yunotme headpieces has been featured in numerous international publications and could be found in stores in Asia, the UK, the US as well as online. Gloria and Yunotme commit themselves to ethical and sustainable practices, with ever evolving plans to improve them.
